The Istanbul University Quality Coordination Office was established in January 2016 to plan and coordinate efforts related to the evaluation, improvement, independent external evaluation, and recognition of the quality of all processes at Istanbul University. This initiative was in response to the Higher Education Quality Assurance Regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette on July 23, 2015.

The main areas of work for the Istanbul University Quality Coordination Office include:

1. Evaluation of education, research activities, and administrative services in line with the university's strategic plan and objectives.
2. Determining institutional indicators and implementing related activities in accordance with the procedures and principles set by the Higher Education Quality Board, and submitting these activities for Senate approval.
3. Conducting internal evaluation activities and preparing an annual institutional evaluation report that includes the results of institutional evaluation and quality improvement efforts. This report is presented to the Senate and made available to the public on the institution's website.
4. Preparing for external evaluation processes, providing support to the Higher Education Quality Board and external evaluators, and assisting in the necessary preparations.
5. Collaborating with Academic Unit Quality Commissions and providing support for their activities.

These efforts are aimed at ensuring and enhancing the quality of education, research, and administrative services at Istanbul University in line with the university's strategic goals and the requirements of higher education quality assurance regulations.
